2009: TSR Teams with UTHSC for OJJDP |
|
TriSoler Triathlon Club will support the efforts of the OJJDP (Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention) National Mentoring Program as part of the national collaboration organized by the Morehouse School of Medicine. Together we will target our mentoring services on students who have about a 50/50 chance of graduating high school, a very high likelihood of encountering situations that encourage drop out, such as teen pregnancy, drug and alcohol use, and gang activity. This a unique program with one-on-one and small group mentoring services provided by nursing and health professions students and will provide quite simply the best way to reach critically at-risk students and to help them navigate alternatives to risky behaviors.
The goal of this program is to reduce juvenile delinquency, drug abuse, truancy, and other problem and high-risk behaviors. The objective of this program is to provide direct one-on-one or group mentoring services to underserved youth populations. TriSoler Racing looks forward to working with the center and to provide both training for the health professional student mentors, and also training for the mentored students at the Good Samaritan Community Services Center. |
